Honor Roll

Reed with his lunch "placemat"

Mommy and Reed

Reed with his certificate and orange lollipop! You can guess which one he really cares about!

Reed made Effort Honor Roll again this quarter. He is doing so well at school - working and improving his reading skills, interacting well with his peers and teachers and learning so much each day. As you can tell, we are very proud of all of his hard work! His school doesn't have Honor Roll based solely on grades. They ask the teachers to nominate any students in their classes who have made significant gains over the quarter. This is especially meaningful when you consider some of the children in Reed's class who began the year speaking NO English at all. They have come so far and are overcoming so many obstacles. Even though they are still performing below the regular kindergarten standard and would never be considered for an Honor Roll based solely on their overall "grades", they are definitely putting in A LOT of effort. I am always so glad to see them honored and pride is evident on their parents' faces as well. It is humbling to think of how intimidating it would be to send my "baby" off to a school where I cannot easily communicate with anyone. Throw in all of the homework that comes home only in English and it is simply overwhelming. As you can tell, I am very proud of Kenny and Armando and their families! I am also VERY proud of my cutie Reed!
